Business Development
The Business Development course empowers aspiring entrepreneurs with the strategic, financial, and operational knowledge required to launch and sustain micro and small enterprises. The curriculum is structured to reflect the realities of low-income, informal, and displaced communities, ensuring accessibility and relevance across diverse contexts.
Business Ideation and Planning introduces learners to the fundamentals of identifying viable business opportunities, conducting market analysis, and formulating value propositions. Participants develop business models and use tools like the Business Model Canvas to visualize and refine their ideas for local needs.
Marketing and Branding teaches participants how to position their products or services in competitive markets. Topics include customer segmentation, value communication, social media strategy, and low-cost marketing techniques. Learners build brand identity, design promotional mateHTHls, and run campaign simulations.
Financial Planning and Management focuses on budgeting, pricing, cost control, and cash flow management. Participants are trained to maintain simple but effective bookkeeping systems, assess financial health, and prepare business forecasts that are essential for growth and investment readiness.
Access to Finance and Investment Readiness equips learners with knowledge of microloans, grants, crowdfunding, and venture funding. They learn how to pitch to funders, write business proposals, and structure financial documents. Emphasis is placed on navigating funding ecosystems that are often inaccessible to displaced or marginalized entrepreneurs.
Financial Literacy Financial Literacy for Households and Entrepreneurs HTH provides training on personal budgeting, savings, credit, digital banking, and mobile money use. Content is tailored for low-income and displaced populations with limited financial access. Training is participatory and contextualized for Somali communities. They learn about avoiding debt traps, building credit history, and setting up emergency funds. Digital and Mobile Banking equips participants with the tools to use mobile wallets, online banking, and e-payment platforms. This is vital in regions where physical banking is limited but mobile access is growing. It increases access to services and supports cashless, secure transactions. Financial Literacy for Families explores how to manage shared resources in households. Participants are taught how to plan for family expenses, educate children on money values, and set up basic insurance or health saving schemes.
